New River Electrical Corporation has recently participated in rehabilitation of the TNT plant located inside the Radford Army Ammunitions Plant. The TNT plant has not been in operation since the mid-1980s. It is the only plant in the United States capable of producing TNT. The majority of the rehabilitation has taken place in 2004 and 2005. It was an estimated cost of $130 million total of all trades to complete the rehabilitation.
You can also use the unit's I-Feel remote control for straightforward AC operation. This remote is quite nifty in and of itself, as it boasts an I-Feel temperature sensor. I can’t speak for anyone else, since I haven’t been in the body of anyone else. But I personally am more bothered by humidity than I am by heat. That means that when it is 100 degrees outside (and it has reached that many days this summer), I can be comfortable at 80 degrees in the house, because the AC is constantly running and therefore getting rid of the humidity. But, for instance, today was a high of 80 in my area. Because of this, I was sweating profusely even when the indoor temperature was 76 degrees, mainly because the AC wasn’t running as often. But perhaps other people are less disturbed by humidity. But I think my point (and others’) still stands that with extreme air conditioning, we condition ourselves to want it to be cooler and cooler. Go to another culture where they don’t use it so often, and you will be surprised by how comfortable people look hanging outside in the summer. They are just used to “real” air and not processed air like we have. Having said that, I love my processed air in moderation :).

Many utility companies have plans set up that offer discounts for switching some of your power usage to off-peak times. The hours and times differ slightly depending upon what part of the country you're in, and each plan is set up a little differently. If you're willing to shift a significant portion of your energy usage to outside the peak times, you certainly can save money.

That really depends on a lot more factors than you’re acknowledging here, though. During the heat wave here in the midwest in July, when daily highs were 95-100, many nights it didn’t even get below 80, never mind the dew points in the mid 70s. With those kinds of conditions, a/c is kind of your only option. In places like Texas, shift pretty much everything up about 10º, and really, try to tell them to skip the a/c.
It's important to make sure the walls and windows of your home aren't leaking air. Just like your refrigerator shouldn't be left open to cool the whole kitchen, your house shouldn't be cooling the yard. Buy a cheap roll of weatherstripping tape, and seal up those doors and windows. Also, make sure to clean the filters on your air conditioning vents at least once a month — this will help your air conditioning be more efficient.

If you have fans in your house, use them. If you don't, considering installing a few. Fans can go a long way to cooling down a room and take up a lot of less energy than having your air conditioning on full blast. Having fans in your house allows you to program your thermostat up to 4 degrees higher because of the air circulation they provide. Make sure your fans are set to spin counterclockwise at higher speeds to save even more.
Many of us here in the Pacific Northwest, where the weather is often moderate all year round, don’t even have air conditioning. So tips like “Seal up the house” don’t work for us. If the weather is hot but not scorching, even those in other places may not need air conditioning. What works for that situation is to keep the windows closed during the daytime, then open them wide to get crossdrafts and the cooler air at night. My house is designed so that if we do that, it never gets above 80 degrees indoors even on the rare days that it’s 95 outside.
All forms of electricity generation have positive and negative aspects. Excessive Total Harmonic Distortions (THD) and not unity Power Factor (PF) is costly at every level of the electricity market. Cost of PF and THD impact is difficult to estimate, but both can potentially cause heat, vibrations, malfunctioning and even meltdowns. Power factor is the ratio of real to apparent power in a power system. Drawing more current results in a lower power factor. Larger currents require costlier infrastructure to minimize power loss, so consumers with low power factors get charged a higher electricity rate by their utility.[130] True power factor is made of displacement power factor and THD. Power quality is typically monitored at the transmission level. A spectrum of compensation devices[131] mitigate bad outcomes, but improvements can be achieved only with real-time correction devices (old style switching type,[132] modern low-speed DSP driven[133] and near real-time[134]). Most modern devices reduce problems, while maintaining return on investment and significant reduction of ground currents. Power quality problems can cause erroneous responses from many kinds of analog and digital equipment, where the response could be unpredictable.
Where you places your dishes matters. The bottom rack works best for plates, and plates should face into the center of the dishwasher. Utensils obviously go in the dedicated carriage on the bottom rack, but how you place them might seem counterintuitive. Place all utensils with the handle at the bottom. This means the sharp end goes up, so be very careful that you don't hurt yourself. The handle doesn't get as dirty, so it doesn't need as much attention as the other end of your utensils. Facing the sharp ends upwards allows more water to reach them.

One thing about drying clothes in the house – if the house is sealed enough to be energy efficient – you are releasing a lot of moisture into the house. When I lived in Europe, the clothes drying setup tended to be in the attic in older houses (beyond the insulation) or in a basement where casement windows could be opened to vent the moisture.
